WORKING AS A FREELANCE EXPERT
What Motivated you to be a freelancer?
Most of us are working with a firm which may be a BPO, IT sector, or maybe anything else. What are we actually earning? Is it worth it? Are we happy with what we are getting? For some of us, the answer is yes. But for others, it’s a big “NO”. Sure you can call that an ‘okay’ income but with a family to feed, loans to pay, credits to pay-off, and bills maintenance every month, most of us are only left with a little bit of money in our pockets, just enough to get through the next pay day. We couldn’t go out and eat when we want to. Even if we take that courage to fulfill our desires, it’s always a value meal at a fast food or at the food court. We should not even think of our saving accounts if we ever decide to go out for a vacation with our family or friends as we speak. What if something bad happens? We have No backup or emergency fund if needed. Job security was another issue as there are actually no rules for termination although it seems to be…
So all in all, it’s a combination of problems majorly which includes financial stability and a quest for a better life.I think these reasons are good enough to prompt anyone to be a freelancer.
But wait!! Are you AFRAID?
As soon as you get motivated to start a new journey as a freelancer, the first thing that strikes your mind is: “How can I be doing freelancing full-time. I just want additional money for month side-gig. I mean, that’s just more than what I actually expect from myself and that’s enough to give me the luxury of taking my family out once a week, or a good meal when I wish to. So I should never be leaving my job. That’s my backup in case it doesn’t work for me.
The fear of not being good enough. That’s where we actually give up before we even start the new journey. The fear of not taking a new path, or you can say, the fear of not taking the path less traveled.
The second concern was my charges working as a freelancer. Charging High was not possible to even think of, as I’ll end up with the only handful of clients.”
You need to shift your mindset that people do pay not because of the kind of service, but rather because of the value they’ll receive from the service.
If you are also afraid of doing it, there is only one solution.
You need to just practice, practice hard, till you make it. If you really wish to change your present scenario, you will have to improve yourself daily. Yeah, that’s right!! Every day. Just a bit of time for self-improvement and Yay! You will definitely start getting results.
You also need to understand the concept of helping others by sharing your knowledge with them. No strings attached. This is important to boost yourself and keep yourself motivated about the work you have chosen for your living!!
How to start and be a successful FREELANCER?
Expertise: Nothing is more important than being an expert in your chosen field. If there’s anything that’s responsible for being a successful freelancer is specializing your genre. And most important, if you really wish to get paid really good, you need to be an expert.
Invest in your learning: No matter what you are planning to learn, whether it’s digital marketing, SMO, SEO, SMM, Email Marketing, Blogging, or how to be a better freelancer. You need to invest your time and money to learn these skills in order to be a great freelancer. You can’t expect others to invest in you if you can’t even invest in yourself.
Build your clients. Make sure you have a good contact list of your clients and try to reach them and stay on top of their mind. You need to understand the concept of making new clients without affecting your existing client relationship. People who hired you or your service are more likely to come again than someone who doesn’t know you at all. This will help you gain clients by dropping just an email as they are your existing happy clients and would love to work with you again.
Working as a full-time freelancer is your choice and it’s as good as working in any other firm. Way to go FREELANCERS!! Enjoy the journey. There is a lot more to come.
